Meet the Woman Behind DUMA MBILI
Shamim Nabours is a Ugandan-born American entrepreneur, accounting and finance professional, and the founder and CEO of DUMA MBILI LLC, an African-inspired luxury skincare and haircare brand based in Texas.
Born and raised in Uganda, Shamim developed a deep appreciation for African culture, natural beauty, and the rich traditions of her homeland. Her journey eventually brought her to the United States, where she continued building her professional career and pursuing her entrepreneurial dreams.
Education & Professional Background
Shamim earned a Bachelor's degree in Development Studies, specializing in Finance and Investment Management, in Uganda in 2008.
Her professional background spans accounting, finance, administration, and customer service. She previously worked with the Iranian Embassy in Uganda, Spectrum, and Apple.
Her most recent employment outside her own business was in accounting at the Restless Legs Syndrome Foundation, where she gained approximately six years of experience working in the nonprofit sector.
These experiences helped shape her business knowledge, financial discipline, leadership skills, and passion for entrepreneurship.

In 2020, Shamim founded DUMA MBILI LLC, inspired by her African heritage and a vision to introduce natural African beauty traditions to a wider audience.
Through DUMA MBILI, she celebrates the richness of African ingredients, including shea butter, African black soap, and nourishing botanical oils.
The brand offers luxury skincare and haircare essentials, including whipped body butters, body oils, exfoliating scrubs, African black soap, and natural haircare products.
For Shamim, DUMA MBILI is more than a business. It represents her roots, her determination, and her desire to build a meaningful legacy.
Motherhood & Personal Life
Beyond entrepreneurship, Shamim's most treasured role is being a proud mother to her beautiful daughter.
